Long before Anima Mundi found its way onto the shelves of Farmatuur, it had already become one of our greatest sources of inspiration. For years we have admired the philosophy behind the brand, the extraordinary quality of its formulations, and the deep respect founder Adriana Ayales has for plants, indigenous wisdom and ethical sourcing.
The more we learned about Anima Mundi, the more we recognised something that felt remarkably familiar.

A life devoted to plants
Adriana Ayales was born and raised in Costa Rica, surrounded by one of the most biodiverse rainforests on Earth. While many people discover herbal medicine later in life, Adriana grew up in a culture where plants were never separated from everyday life. They were nourishment, medicine, ritual and teacher all at once.
Her curiosity led her far beyond the forests of her childhood. Over the years she studied with indigenous herbalists throughout Central and South America, immersed herself in traditional rainforest herbalism, Ayurveda, Daoist medicine and European herbal traditions, and trained as a clinical herbalist.
What emerged was not a collection of different healing systems, but one clear philosophy.

When Adriana moved from Costa Rica to Brooklyn, she carried more than herbs with her.
She carried centuries of botanical knowledge.

Why Farmatuur waited
If there was one reason why Anima Mundi did not immediately become part of Farmatuur, it was geography.
Whenever possible, we consciously choose European makers. We believe in supporting local craftsmanship and keeping supply chains as close to home as we can.
Costa Rica is not exactly next door.
So we took our time.
But some makers embody values that transcend distance.
Over the years we kept returning to Anima Mundi. We explored the formulations, studied the ingredients, read Adriana's work, and admired the care with which every product is created. Again and again we arrived at the same conclusion: this was exactly the kind of company Farmatuur exists to support.
Rather than introducing the entire collection at once, we chose to begin thoughtfully, with a carefully selected range of our personal favourites. Becoming an official wholesale partner feels like the natural first step in what we hope will become a long and meaningful journey together.
