Organic Immunity Mushroom Powder - Eight Mushrooms for Natural Defences
Description
Traditional mushroom wisdom, beta-glucans and carefully cultivated organic quality.
An earthy blend of eight functional mushrooms, bringing together reishi, cordyceps, lion’s mane, turkey tail, shiitake, maitake, poria cocos and agaricus blazei. Rooted in the tradition of using mushrooms to nourish resilience, this formula finds its home in Natural Defences: a daily ritual centred on immunity, with a broader appreciation of the rest, nourishment and vitality that underpin it.
The mushroom constituents that matter
Mushrooms contain beta-glucans, complex polysaccharides that form part of their cell walls. These are among the most closely studied mushroom constituents for their interaction with immune recognition—the processes through which immune cells recognise and respond to their surroundings.
Each species has its own chemical character. Alongside beta-glucans and other polysaccharides, mushrooms can contribute phenolic compounds and triterpenes. Reishi, for example, is distinguished by its bitter triterpenes, including ganoderic acids. This diversity gives an eight-mushroom blend its interest: several complementary constituent profiles in one preparation.
Eight mushrooms, complementary traditions
- Reishi - the restorative mushroom. Known as Ling Zhi in Chinese herbal tradition, reishi has long been valued as a tonic associated with vitality and calm. Its combination of polysaccharides and distinctive triterpenes makes it a central mushroom in the blend’s restorative character.
- Turkey tail - a polysaccharide-rich companion. Recognisable by its colourful, fan-shaped layers, turkey tail brings a longstanding place in East Asian mushroom practice and a particular association with immune-focused preparations.
- Shiitake - nourishment, natural defences and the sunlight connection. A treasured food and medicinal mushroom in East Asian traditions, shiitake contains lentinan, a distinctive beta-glucan studied for its interaction with the immune system. It also contains ergosterol-the precursor that sunlight transforms into vitamin D₂, connecting mushroom chemistry with the conditions in which it grows and is prepared. Beyond immunity, specialised shiitake preparations have attracted research into skin applications and liver health. Within this blend, its polysaccharides and long tradition of nourishing use remain central.
- Maitake - the nourishing “dancing mushroom.” Also called hen of the woods, maitake contributes another distinctive range of branched beta-glucans. It bridges the worlds of everyday nourishment and traditional mushroom use.
- Agaricus blazei - Brazilian roots, scientific interest. Valued for its beta-glucan-rich polysaccharide profile, this mushroom has attracted research into immune activity and tumour-cell biology. In laboratory experiments, a hot-water extract inhibited the growth of human pancreatic cancer cells and triggered apoptosis-the cells’ programmed self-destruction process. This research concerns an experimental extract tested on cultured cells; it does not establish an anticancer effect from taking this mushroom blend. (Matsushita et al., 2018)
- Cordyceps - traditional vitality. Used in Chinese medicine as a restorative tonic, cordyceps brings a history of use for fatigue and physical endurance. Within this blend, its traditional role adds the dimension of maintaining reserves during demanding periods.
- Poria cocos - the foundation of nourishment. Known as Fu Ling, poria is traditionally used in Chinese formulas concerned with digestion, fluid balance and calm. Its place reflects a broader herbal understanding of resilience that includes how we digest, assimilate and rest.
- Lion’s mane - more than a focus mushroom. Alongside its familiar association with cognition, lion’s mane has a history of use for the stomach and digestion. Here, its polysaccharides and traditional digestive role add another dimension to the blend.
Grown with expertise, prepared with care
Erbology’s mushrooms are cultivated in Europe in small batches, on organic, plant-based substrates, by mycology specialists with more than 20 years of experience.
After harvesting, the mushrooms are dried at 60°C and finely milled into a powder that is easy to incorporate into food and drinks. This preparation retains the mushrooms’ broader nutritional matrix, including their fibre.
Accredited independent testing, including checks for beta-glucans, adds a concrete layer of quality assurance to the careful cultivation and traceable European sourcing.
Your daily mushroom ritual
With its mild, earthy flavour, this blend is at home in a warming broth, soup, coffee or cacao. Stir thoroughly and enjoy as part of a regular routine. Follow the serving instructions on your pack.
